Words of Felicitation to Prithvi Narayan Shah, the Supreme Leader of Unity

by: Ayod Dhaumya

1.

That was a dream of a mother -

A day comes once in one era,

that day had come

in the form of your mother's dream,

to that mother who swallowed

'Surya-Narayan'[1] in her dream,

and, gave the birth to 'Prithvi Narayan'[2]

in her waking moment,

My commemorations to that mother,

My approbations to that mother,

My commemorations and approbations

to that day as well.

2.

The era gave birth to you

You gave birth to an era,

The history asked for you

You created a history by yourself;

you were precisely the person of your mother's dream

which came true,

and the motherland obtained her worth;

To such a land,

My commemorations

My approbations.

3.

You, the leader of unity!

My land is glittering eminently

by your supreme leadership

being blest, being virtuous,

you are adorable, you are Great.

By the saga of your glory and valour -

our history remains

glorified and exemplary.

4.

You have become 'Partha-Sarathi'[3]

by providing us the Knowledge of Geeta[4]

in the form of your Divya Upadesha[5],

You in yourself have become 'Partha'[6]

by fighting the battle for national unity;

(Thus) You - Prithvi Narayan -

a collective form of 'Nara'[7] and 'Narayana'[8];

My commemorations to you

My approbations to you.
